CO SCHOLASTIC PROGRAM

 

 

 

The term 'co-scholastic activities' is used for both cognitive and non-cognitive development that can take place by exposing the child to the scholastic and non-scholastic subjects. They are integral parts of the curriculum and included in the routine of the school for the holistic development of children.

 
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
  • • To provide a range of co scholastic activities for the holistic development of students.
    • To recognize and nurture talents in students and provide sufficient opportunities to portray talents and raise students' sense of achievement.
    • To raise social and environment awareness and develop a spirit of service towards the extended community.

 
GRADES 9 to 11
  • The ACE PROGRAM of DPS Sharjah caters to the wellbeing and overall holistic development of our students. The various activities enable them to develop key inter-personal skills which cannot be fully realized in the classroom, while allowing them to pursue their interests outside the purely academic context. These innovative programs also enhance social skills, develop teamwork abilities, and provide students with opportunities to relieve stress, build resilience and learn to manage their time more effectively.

The 300-point program works under three domains:

Activity

  • Sports, fitness and wellbeing activities are planned to provide a platform for displaying their growth and abilities. The importance of holistic well-being with a focus on body, mind and soul is emphasized.

Creativity
  • Our specifically designed and balanced curriculum supplements core academic subject learning with a variety of elective courses that provide students with a comprehensive educational experience ideal for their holistic development. By being able to select from a myriad of elective courses, students are provided with a uniquely individualized educational experience that builds upon their academic and social strengths. Our class assemblies are completely student led and enable students to undertake responsibility, develop self-leadership and enhance interpersonal skills.

GRADES 9 to 12
  • Students are given opportunities to think critically, identify opportunities, challenge their potential and be open to new ideas through our integrated areas of learning. They engage in practices that promote physical, cognitive, emotional and social development, and wellbeing, connect different areas of knowledge, application and values with their own lives and the world around them to make them good citizens who can contribute to making the world a happy place.
 
ART EDUCATION
  • Art Education entails instruction in various art forms (visual as well as performing) with an aim to help children develop an interest in the arts and encourage them to enthusiastically participate in related activities, thus, promoting abilities such as imagination, creativity, valuing arts and cultural heritage.
 
HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
  • Health and Physical Education focuses on holistic development, both mental and physical, understanding the importance of physical fitness, health, wellbeing, and the factors that contribute to them.
 
WORK EDUCATION
  • A distinct curricular area for students for participation in social, economic and welfare activities. Student gets a sense of community service and develops self-reliance by participating in:
