| MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM (6,7,8) |
The curriculum in the middle school is comprehensive and balanced focusing on developing reflective learners and critical thinkers and in providing a wholesome holistic development for every student.
The learning areas include the following subjects (but not limited to):
- • Languages (English, Hindi/ French/German, Arabic) - The language curriculum aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in a variety of contexts and train students to be able to adapt language to suit different tasks, audiences and purposes. It aims to develop confidence in the students so that they can use their skills and abilities effectively. It helps to develop students' critical abilities - to analyze and critically evaluate diverse texts and to equip learners with the language to question ideas and articulate their point of view
- • Social Sciences: Social Science crystallizes into various disciplines of learning such as the study of History which focuses largely on world history along with provision of learning local / native history, Social and Political Structures, Geography and Economics. The Social Science curriculum aims to develop in students an understanding and evaluation of the social, political, economic and environmental dimensions of the world, and helps them formulate and justify arguments in response to a diverse range of issues.
- • Mathematics: The Curriculum helps students develop strategies that improve their logical thinking and analytical ability. It helps to develop the ability to approximate and estimate, to use trial and improvement techniques, look for patterns and make hypothesis. It helps in development of computational skills and spatial intelligences
- • Science : The Science curriculum offers students the opportunity to be curious, to question, to investigate, to formulate hypothesis, design and carry out experiments, make critical observations and record results.
- • Stem Education: Incorporated into Math and Science, it develops students’ analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, fostering innovation and real-world application.
- • Information & Communication technology: Students assess the impact of new technologies on society and train them to use these productively. The focus of the program is to help the students to understand the use of common software applications and use technology to enhance their ability to access, evaluate and research information. The curriculum includes Data Science, equipping students with skills to analyze, interpret, and apply data in real-world scenarios.
- • Visual Arts & Performing Arts: These offer opportunities for the development of imagination, sense of aesthetics, sensitivity and inventiveness - all of which are the requirements of a balanced curriculum.
- • Physical & Health Education: It contributes to the physical fitness aspect and all-round development of students. The subject is unique in the sense that it seeks to promote basic body management developing into the mastery of coordinated and skillful movements.
- • Social Sciences and Moral Education: The UAE-mandated Social Studies and Moral Education curriculum develops students’ understanding of society, culture, and ethical values, fostering responsible citizenship.
- • Islamic studies: The UAE-mandated Islamic Education curriculum nurtures students’ understanding of Islamic beliefs, values, and practices, guiding them toward moral and spiritual development.
- • Electives: Students can pick out an elective of their choice and hone their talent
- • Kaushal Bodh: It is a Central Board of Secondary Education-mandated program that develops students’ practical life skills, values, and real-world competencies.
